Making a Music Box for my Dad's Birthday

PHASE 2. Going from Fusion 360 to Inkscape

To convert my CAD model from Fusion 360 to Inkscape, I have to select a side and create a sketch using the existing shape. Once a new sketch with the shape has been created, I can export it as a DXF (Drawing) file. I can use Inkscape to open the DXF file and repeat that a few more times until I have all of the sides made. While in Inkscape I can change the outline of the drawing to the colour red. This is because, for the settings used in laser cutting software, Red Hairline lines tells the Laser Cutter to cut out that line. While Black Solids like the "Happy Birthday Dad" acts as a shape for engraving the message.

My father loves Penguins and so do I. So for his birthday I created a Penguin Vector Drawing similiar to the one I did for my Vector Drawing Guide. To import this image into the same drawing as my Music Box, I just need to go to the top right tab named "file" and use the "import" tab and select the penguin SVG file and merge the two.

Unfortunately, while importing the DXF file into CorelDraw, I made a mistake while converting it and can only open the Penguin Vector Drawing file and the Music Box wihtout the Penguin Drawing file. I had to merge both of them together again in corelDRAW and convert the outlines. This might be due to the fact that while in Inkscape I saved the merged drawing as an SVG 2014 file instead or a SVG 2012. I have yet to look into the cause but this was only a slight hinderance.

As of Phase 2, with the file in CorelDRAW I can now upload it on to the Laser Cutter so I can cut it out.
